🐽 Golf 4 Rear Door Panel Removal

The front door panels have access holes placed so that the window can be unlocked from its track so that the door handles can be then accessed. But, I discovered today that the access points in the rear doors are not aligned with one of the window tracks and I am unable to remove the window to swap out the handles. Start at the very bottom and get it started with a trim tool. Make a gap big enough to squeeze your fingers into than use your hands to yank out the lower plastic fasteners. Pull straight back away from the door. Once you get started, work your way around the panel. They literally pop out. Yes those instructions are the same for the Durango, I too have removed the door panels to replace the frt components and the rear 6.5's (both frt and rear door panels come off the same way). The trim behind the door handle comes off with a thin screw drivers (pocket screw drives work great). One tip the door panel clips are very strong, once 2028 posts · Joined 2003. #4 · Aug 29, 2005. there is only one screw behind the handle. you will also need to remove the handle with a socket and extension, then remove the screw, much easier that way. then just lift up on the panel and pull out towards you SLOWLY because you will need to disconnect the plugs for the power windows. very Remove switch panel. Remove all 7 plastic screws holding the outer panel in place with the T20 torx driver. Now pull panel up and away. Remove the 13 10mm screws holding the inner panel in place. I would leave 2 of the top edge screws in loosely. Remove speaker. Remove the T30 torx screws holding the door latch. Remove the screw in the door lock handle trim and the grab cup. Pull along the entire edge of the door panel until all the plastic anchors have released. Lift up and out over the door lock tabs. With the door panel removed you will see the wiring harness for the power window switch. Once I got it popped up, I used the plastic trim tool to remove it fully. Pry here: Remove the screw: Same with this panel and screw: Then work a plastic trim tool between the door panel and trim at the bottom. Get your fingers behind the panel and pop the clips.
